Remi, in closing:"In the natural course of events a considerable number of embryos are aborted due to "natural causes". Maybe Boris thinks that God decides those issues and that we should leave it up to him. It's the underlying structure of the thinking that I am trying to reveal here. What unspoken assumptions are there?" Crossbowman, final sentence:"I don't think we're saying we're dealing with a death here, are we? " Observing the fascination that some/many women show with "babies", on an emotional note, I would say that the generating copy of life, the embryo, is not only a "baby", but is already something to grieve over, if lost. Results may vary, depending on the woman. Myself, I would prefer a world with women somewhat like my mother, who managed to nurture me quite adequately, IMO. The nurturing attitude, one that a foetus is somewhat precious, even if not already totally emotionally invested in it, is a feeling that generalized, is beneficial to humans overall. My mother's exact attitude over strokes of fate, possible miscarriages, is somewhat unconnected with her fascination with infants. Whether Bill and Melinda Gates are fascinated with "babies" as they promote health of children is perhaps a separate issue, of course. Heck, anyway, I yam not entirely totally invested in my own life, .. it depends on many things, unfinished business, work still to be done, pain level, balancing advantages against DISadvantages, watching the Democrats grope in their fogs, and future prospects for ever owning a Ferrari Zamboni.
