Thanks for that honest speculation. Actually, I don't CARE to show the egg on your mug at some asinine point in the past. The present will do fine.

Sometimes I let the other masterdebater have the last word, because I think they have obviously lost. Other times I think I have won, BECAUSE I got the last word.

Summary: The "last word" is not determinative, and winning at debate assumes that the debate is "over". Even bloodied and on my knees, I may be contemplating a return engagement.
