DWA> Sometimes POWs got executed for minor infractions. An execution of a POW can or may not be legal, and that depends on fuzzy issues of legitimacy of laws, *truth*, jurisdiction, and national sovereignity Boris> Similar, could have happened in Vietnam also. After listening to a speech presentation by Capt. Gerald Coffee, while he never said that any of the American POWs were "executed", he saw the navigator of his aircraft being taken away alive, never to be seen again. While talking with my uncle, who was in the 442nd Division, in the 100th Battalion, he told me that both sides "executed" POWs, because there were no means to incarcerate, or to have someone take the prisoners to the back lines would take one person away from the war front. |
