"While you are living under MY roof, you will obey MY rules."

Ever got that one?

Remi handed Frank authority over TT Evo, and evolution's a very science-heavy topic. Frank is holding you to basic principals of scientific discourse: stay on topic, support your assertions with facts, etc. You object to censorship on principle, so you choose not to subject your quite imaginative and free-ranging prose style to his restrictive rules - and he then exercises the authority vested in him to enforce his rules.

Now, I will be the first to admit the advantages of your style of discourse: you may not (to be honest, you seldom) prove your point, but you do compel people to think outside the box, and following your free-association style of debate almost always results in learning something new - albeit about something unrelated to the starting topic.

On the other hand, I can also see the advantages in Frank's more disciplined style of discourse: the core topic gets fully explored, and the core assertion is either conclusively proven or conclusively disproven - at least as far as existing facts allow for such proof.

I personally would prefer to see a forum that embraced both styles of discourse, but I am a firm believer in house rules - your house, your rules. Thus, I am reluctantly obliged to support Frank in this. The success or failure of Evo is more or less on his shoulders, so in my view he does have the right to set the rules he thinks will lead to success. Asking him to tolerate a style that he thinks will diminish the forum, given that he is ultimately responsible for the forum, is in my mind unreasonable.

If he is going to change his rules, then he is first going to have to see that there is some advantage to the forum in doing so. To be honest, the lesson from other forums so far is that allowing too free a style of debate can lead to forums dominated by off-topic jibes and personal attacks. Evo is weak in activity, but it can at least be counted on to be on-topic.

The only proper appeal is to Remi, who vested Frank with his authority and who can set whatever rules or limits to that authority that he sees fit. Frank is acting as Remi's agent, but this baby is ultimately Remi's, and it's ultimately Remi's judgment as to what will or won't lead to success that matters.

If I might suggest, perhaps you should see if Frank would be willing to move the debate to someplace where he does not moderate, where you can ramble freely and he can criticize you freely without worrying about its impact on the quality of the forum. "General" seems ideally suited for such debates.
