Crossbowman:"Yes, there are some genius kids out there, but in my honest opinion most "gifted" kids are just ordinary kids whose parents are giving them proper attention." Well, I have been hearing of some of the bowling excursions that are given to really ornery "special needs" children, and for starters wonder if free-ride "rewards" are the best way to obtain "good" behavior.
I just have this grim vague dissatisfaction that the schools are putting kids in holding patterns, that's all. Sort of like some of the classes that I had to sit through. Naturally, in the "grades" quibbling, the teachers and students are losing sight of the true objective of "education". Namely, personal growth, and acquiring useful skills and tools. On the bright side, some gifted high school children locally can elect to study "matrix theory", but then some parents are complaining that the effort that gets a "C" there would get an "A" in basket weaving.
