He can rationalize the rest of us as jealous and hateful or simply ignorant savages who "just don't understand". Of course you are correct here. But isn't that what a child does as well? And some adults who behave as children. I can think of one without any effort at all. What worries me is that the rest of his world is crumbling as well. Again, an adult would be worried sick about this. He doesn't seem to be aware (denial?) His prized Beatles rights are likely lost unless his lawyers are VERY good and a little lucky. I heard on NPR today that his advisors are already saying he needs to sell them. Again, like a petulant child he is resisting. He's got the adulation and quite a chunk of money to fall back on, but the world is no longer his to command, and by all accounts, this affair hurt him deeply. Again, according to NPR, he is about 270 million in debt. And he has put a lot of things including Neverland Ranch under mortgages. As I see it, the man's either going to find SOME kind of anchor and pull himself out, or he's going to go full recluse and at some point in the distant future - maybe the near future if he doesn't get better control of his impulses - off himself. I don't see him getting an anchor, he doesn't show enough sense of reality IMO for that to happen. I do agree that the chances of him suiciding is great. Very great. The problem there (in a philosophical sense) is does that prove his innocence or his guilt? I have to say something here. When I mentioned suicide to someone else, they thought I was completely bonkers. It is a nice validation to have someone who I respect come to the same conclusion of possibility. And judging from the way you said it, you seem to view it the same way I did. IOW more then a 50-50 chance. |
