The more radical the new technology, the more need for good government. People must be persuaded of wise stewardship before they will support cloning. Today, there is not much chance of wise stewardship of cloning, under the Republicans. That it would be used to enrich the already rich, there can be no doubt, and that it would be used to oppress the oppressed, also there could be no doubt. Cloning could be the ultimate fulfillment of the capitalist dream, creating a race of docile worker bees who will work for almost nothing and be content, and a class of perfect elite. Somewhat like the movie _Gattaca_.
