I do not think either Remi or Skibummer have been reading my postings. It was never my claim that eardrums would burst if one exceeded a certain speed. This was a straw man erected by Remi for the purposes of furthering the discussion without actually making any attempt to strain his few remaining brain cells. As for the dangers that skibummer has attempted to insinuate that I have failed to specify I will reitterate (as they have been part of the subject line for the entire discussion). The most likely result of human cloning (and in some sense all reproductive technology) will be the dependence on humanity on machines for reproductive sucess. If genetic manipulation gives the parents or children some advantage we cannot but assume that it will become the normal method of conception. As Remi in the position statement advocates feathered teenagers. How is it possible to deny that making changes to the human genome will accelerate the rate of change of the human genome. It is practically a truism. As a final word I would like to ask that any responses limit themselves to why human cloning or genetic manipulation can be accomplished without the above consequences. |
