 No, I wouldn't accept the notion that an embryo is "an animal".

Of course I knew your answer would be this.

An animal embryo is in the same position with respect to noetic value as a human embryo.

This is similar to the way I stated it when dwa asked the question. Looks like it is quite understandable to most everyone here.
