Your observations are meaningful. However, even with fission technology, the over population factors blow away any rescue scenario. There is no coherent reason that so many humans have to be present on the planet at one time.
The current rate of procreation is obscene. The Pope is a mad man - the Catholic hierarchy are totally without vision, existing in a selective mental state that is incubated by a fairy tale illusion. We're all placed at risk by the madness of the birth equation. Yes - it's all sacred,yes,it's all a miracle, but the attachment of ego to physical rebirth is killing the Earth and making life impossible without mutation.
Buddhism offers a solution which brings enlightenment. To go the Christian or Moslem route is death through obsession with physical self gratification. There are only two viable religious expressions that are post Shamanistic - Judaism and Buddhism.
