This is not my original work but I would be quite happy to attribute it to the author if I am apprised of hir name. I've had it around since the early usenet days. It might act as a way to reduce verbiage. We might for example simply refer to a fallacy by number in order to (F1 and F3 eg) dismiss an opponents argument. For example this post could be simply rebutted by posting - F18 and closing the post.

LIST OF COMMON DEBATING FALLACIES:
- ARGUMENTUM AD DICTIONARIUM -- This fallacy takes two forms. The first assumes any dictionary has an established legal definition. The second form assumes misspelling invalidates an opponents argument.Saying "you misspelled X", or variations thereof.
- ARGUMENTUM GRAMMARIUM -- Deciding an opponents grammatic structure is incorrect and substituting your own more appropriate interpretation.
- ARGUMENTUM INFANTIUM -- Saying "NA NA NA" or "Yo Mamma".
- ARGUMENTUM NOLO CONTENDRE -- Bragging that you scared your opponent so badly they had to get out the reference books to find out what the hell you were saying.
- ARGUMENTUM TRANSUBSTANTIUM -- Accusing your opponent of carefully clipping your words to change the meaning.
- ARGUMENTUM DE HITLERIA -- This also takes two forms. Comparing the outcome of your opponents reforms to Hitlerian/Natzi lifestyle promotion and comparing termination indiscriminately applied without regard to race creed or gender with a specifically target extermination as practiced in Natziesque "concentration camps".
- ARGUMENTUM AUTHORITARIUM--Claiming your opponents argument is legally actionable and for this reason you are alerting the authorities about hir.
- ARGUMENTUM DARWINIUM--Calling your opponent argument a front for some eugenics movement that applies in some mysterious way indiscriminately applied without regard to any specific race creed gender of physical ability.
- ARGUMENTUM PAEDOPHILUM--Calling your opponent a child molester or claiming abortion is a form of child abuse.
- ARGUMENTUM LESBOSIUM--Calling your opponent a feminazi lesbian. See also De Hitleria.
- ARGUMENTUM VALIDIUM POLITICUUS--Accusing your opponent actions based on political correctness.
- ARGUMENTUM VERBOSIUM--Padding your argument with unneeded verbiage in an effort to bury it so that it may escape the notice of your opponent that it is invalid.
- ARGUMENTUM AD NAUSEAM--Repeating the same argument again and again while using different words to present it each time as if it became a new and compelling reason to accept it.
- ARGUMENTUM AUTHORITETAS DOMINUM--Saying that your position must be correct because God has spoken to you and is in your corner. Another variation of this is to claim that you have an exclusive contract with God to interpret the words of the holy books and this leads you to perform only moral acts in Gods name.
- ARGUMENTUM TRANSVERBOSUM--Claiming your opponent is twisting your words in order to misquoted you.
- ARGUMENTUM MULTIPERSONIUM--Claiming your opponent is really someone else posting under an assumed name to provide hirself moral support OR claiming your opponent is posting as many other posters to give the appearance of great opposition to your ideas.
- ARGUMENTUM AB NIHILO--The claim that if your opponent does not agree with your position then s/he has no position at all and is therefore a nihilist.
- ARGUMENTUM VERBOSUM FINALIS--Trying to have the last word by announcing your opponent is not worth discoursing with and as far as you are concerned will no longer exist.
- ARGUMENTUM ANTI VERBOSUM FINALIS--Trying to have the last word by bragging that your argument is so compelling that no matter what your opponent says it will not be refuted.
- ARGUMENTUM HUMERUS--Claiming that your post was a troll, and your opponent fell for it like the silly fool he or she obviously is.
- ARGUMENTUM POPULII IMBECILI--Rejecting your opponent's evidence, on the grounds that any fool can see that it's "obviously" manufactured or erroneous or just plain wrong.
- ARGUMENTARIM INEXACTITUDINUM--Lying.
- ARGUMENTARIM INEXACTITUDINUM NUMERIUM--Lying with statistics.
- ARGUMENTUM DE FORUM--Arguing that all your opponents positions are motivated by a particular philosophy and are therefore off topic. Suggesting your opponent take this garbage to eMail or another forum.
- ARGUMENTUM SUB STRATUM--Claiming your opponent will go directly to hell for holding such a vile position.
- ARGUMENTUM MORTUUM--The position that nothing matters anyway, because when we die somebody else will make the decisions and the right path will finally be restored.
- ARGUMENTUM AVIUM--Dismissing an opponent's arguments out of hand because s/he is a birdbrain and the thoughts are chickens**t.
- ARGUMENTUM SENS FINITUM-- Dragging out a debate long after it has reached it's logical conclusion because it is the only area of the topic on which you can sound knowledgeable (in your opinion).
- ARGUMENTUM MODERATORUM--Threatening to have an opponents posting privileges removed unless the vile allegations concerning your mother/parenthood/mental abilities/friends is retracted.
- ARGUMENTUM NOMINUM--Claiming the nom de plume of your opponent makes it obvious s/he is simply trolling OR using your opponents name as the basis of a " clever " name flame.
