I noted yesterday that St. Lawrence river water temperature in the summer could be as high as 70 degrees Fahrenheit. Farther towards the poles, the summer days get very long.

Elsewhere, that natural(?) phenomenon would be called thermal pollution.


We have a "choice" in this, of course, stop runaway growth of human population, and save some of our wild pristine retreats.
