DWA, about ID assumptions: Within the basic rules of the comprehensive physical sciences, the sky is the limit. If so, then why is life constrained to such hierarchical patterns? Why can't a giraffe have more bones in its neck than a manatee? Why don't bats have feathers, or aren't you allowed to question assumptions about your Designer? DWA: Do we even know of the full extent of as yet unimaginable possibilities in the "physical" quantum-linked world, possibly at the disposal of "higher intelligence"? No, but why do you feel compelled to invoke His actions when you have no evidence for them at all? I asked: Given your idea of using parts off the rack, would you expect any variation in coding sequences at all? How do explain what is seen?" DWA: Good questions. Crossbowman offered the idea that our food tends to define what we are/what thrives. The full biochemical intricacies are quite beyond me, sorry. Despite our advanced understanding of "nutrition", it seems intuitive that some molecules in our/animal/foetal food, might be advantageous in ways as yet unsuspected. Consider the antibody merits of mother's milk for babies, as opposed to milk from the supermarket. I don't think that mastery of any intricacy is needed here, so how about answering the question I asked you instead of wandering in a circle? DWA: This is a difficult topic for me. I suppose, even allowing both ID and "mutation", that there could be a certain amount of "noise" in the received DNA code, even if it were initially designed with an intelligent punctuated originating conscious intent/purpose. By what mechanism do you think that noise came about? If the noise was subtracted, why should a tyrannosaur look more like a chicken than an alligator? DWA: In brief: These are remarkable implications that I have not yet fully massaged/wrestled with. ------------Rejecting ID out of hand, have you? Perhaps you should consider doing your self-wrestling before staking as your position with such self-assurance. Have I rejected ID out of hand? No, but the arguments you present certainly don't sway me into thinking it is anything but your religious beliefs. |
