Frank:"As far as I am aware, most modern fruit production relies on grafting known fruit-bearing branches onto hardy rootstock. Most attempts to grow a tree from the seed of a tasty fruit are, shall we say, fruitless." Well, then, the 1 in 100 lucky stroke, a productive nectarine seedling, needs an explanation, which my "fruiterer" offered me.. I would also entertain the theory that some rather more handsome cherries, not too mutated, can fertilise some lucky nectarines.
