DWA: ...I thought I was actually answering your demand for some specifics with that link above that you conspicuously ignore. The episode of a medical screw-up was attended to by the kind of well educated/degreed "scientists" that the majority of the general public commonly has contact with. That was NOT an example of a failure of the peer-review process or even of a flawed but well-accepted trend in science. DWA: My issue and contention is that many episodes of bad science occur, and the average encounter by regular people is maybe about as checkered as with other "professions". Better than car mechanics and drywall hangers? Debatable? Nobody disputes the fact that people make mistakes, but where are you demonstrating any sort of systemic flaw in the current process of knowledge acquisition and communication? DWA: Okay? Well, how do mechanics and drywall hangers disseminate new discoveries in their fields? |
