Angus:"Frank's question seems to me to be an empathic invitation to respect the focused collection of volumes of data."

Old European libraries have vast pre-reformation assemblages of good and bad data.

Even in "theology", I don't think you can assume or project that quantity has anything to do with overall quality.

Angus:"What alternative psychological pillar is "there", DWA? What about one from inside? A personal truth (gnosis) rather than a common truth (diagnosis financed by the establishment) ... "

Um, maybe admitting that there are no totally trustworthy "pillars"?

I certainly would not be looking for "pillars" in "psychology", anyway, one of the more extraordinarily "soft" of sciences, where the true causes are quite nebulous, and their effects are so variable according to individual quirks.

In brief: "Scientists" craving for settled certainty in evolutionary matters may just represent a general "quirky" tendency among humans that occurs in other realms of endeavor as well.
