My understanding is that the State of Israel was formed when the UN agreed that the mandate it had been left by the British, who were in huge hock for war material to the United States, should be assumed by Ben Gurion and his pals, essentially a Zionist group.

Gaza arose, I understand out of that UN decision.

As to why the Palestinians are not more helped by Arab States, my understanding is that the Sunni-Shia divide is a factor, but beyond that the factionalization escapes my understanding.

To single out the Europeans and Britons for anti-Semitism is, I think unfair. Most people like not to have to rescue others from their misfortunes, but under certain egregious circumstances will extend a helping hand. Certainly that has been the official British view since the Balfour Declaration. While there was not unanimity in Britain concerning the pro-Jewish nature of Balfour Declaration and its governmental follow-up, I know of no nation where anti-Semitism does not occasionally flare up. If Jews go around presenting to all sundry links like the authentic one Silverfox provided on Zionism, I can only comment that Zionism, when studied, must be seen as contributing to anti-Semitism. what's this
