Throughout history, pogroms and persecutions have always appeared when there is a severely weakened group - either religious,political,or economic.
The very wealthy and influential Jews left Germany early, and had transferred their assets to locations abroad long before the beer and sausage guzzlers turned rampant. However, twenty years prior - before WW I there were deep misgivings within the German Jewry, regarding the Polish,Hungarian,and Russian Jewish mystics, which were the seed of Cabbalah - an infusion of mysticism into the Jewish religious/theosophic dialog that un nerved the upwardly mobile professional class of German Jews. To comprehend this, one must look back to the pre Napoleonic era in Russia. Very 'tuned in' and wealthy Jews in St.Petersburg began planning an escape west, into Saxony and Slovakia. Those that had great wealth escaped by sea, rather than to risk travel over land across the vast plains of Poland. They were aware that Danzig was teeming with spies and treacherous anti Jewish rats, so they put in further west at smaller ports. Safely into the interior of Saxony they were converted by Baptism at monastical sites, pre arranged by The Holy Sea. These were the 'Meshingelah'. From there,they fanned out, from the Rhine Valley to the Danube, stimulating the economy and establishing Dresden as a financial center.
