At the risk of being legitimately accused of causing sheep tracks of my own, I wonder if DWA's link is a tribute, in the language of religious history, to the power of authenticity. This seems to me to be a power whose difficulty of assembly and projection is initially a function of numbers of listeners, but which after an uncertain point may or may not reach the viral tipping point of which Malcom Gladwell writes. what's this
