Angus:"So, while it is true that English vocabulary is being expanded to include an ever-growing list of inventions by people both using "standard English" and dialectical English, and while folksy people with baseball caps on backward delight in poking fun at those with a serious bent and who must for that very purpose use standard English, English grammar appears to be weathering the unpopularity arising from people having to learn its discipline." With concentration, that seems to resonate with me. The Philippinos took to American English like ducks to water, in the course of the 20th century, and some of them are probably superior at it, especially to those who like wearing their baseball caps backwards. Did you know, though, that "boondock" is a Tagalog word? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Boondock
