Thanks for DWA's concentration. This is a courtesy that I appreciate very much. His concentration is gratefully recognized through cyberspace by his TT posting correspondent, namely this poster, I. I will henceforth use the term "one who likes wearing baseball caps backwards" (OHLWBCB) in preference to use of the word "redneck". I propose future 'standard English' use of the word "redneck", which I assume was used to refer to whites whose work required them ro work all day long bending down in the sun (i.e. post Civil War cotton pickers), as code by which one seeks private connection with fellows concentrating with one while all around us are milling a vast madding crowd speaking almost inarticulately a folksily psychotic, boondockian OHWLWBCBish. Perhaps Stinglish will be a good name for standard English. This might lessen the inferiority-superiority tension between literarily educated Brits and literarily educated non-Brit English speakers. I have felt this stingy tension/pressure to be greatly interfering with my attempts to gain recognition of what I once thought would be obvious to everyone: a conversation purporting to be interested in the discovery and articulation of truth can scarcely be conducted with any hope of emotional success if the participants do not have much dedication to using a language having practical claims to becoming a universal human language such as Stinglish has clamant claims. Besides, I link the 'sting' inference contained in this word. It accurately conveys the sting that current exists in hurt to both sides of the Stinglish-OHLWBCB electric dialectic. My belief is that practical rules for empathically authentic dialogue (EAD) can be articulated in Stinglish that will automatically, if spoken sincerely, heal not only socioeconomic rifts in the Anglosphere but also go on to eliminate, in due course, both war and psychosis everywhere. Prospective starting rules for Stinglish EAD: 1. No Loch Ness Monsters. Instead expand the articulation of your idea to eliminate entirely the intra-word conception confusion always present in an LNM and use the Principle of Agency Clarity to replace it with "unpacked" thinking so that confusion is banished to thermonuclear reactions and taken entirely out of human relationships 2. Permit thyself a "thou" when thou referest to thy immediate interlocutor 3. Replace vernacular 'you's' and 'your's' with the pronoun or possessive adjective at which thou wilst surely arrive by applying the Principle of Agency Clarity 4. Watch the Truth Tree for expositions of the Principle of Agency Clarity and its beneficial treat-ment of diagnosticianist exacerbated "ismic" psychosis. Following these rules will make the "sting" inference in Stinglish a huge joke that one day has the capability of graduating to benignly banal humour. what's this |
