homer:"The stupidity of Saddam aside, this comment about 'Orientals' is absurd, in light of all of European History. "

Chinese history and Asian history is dotted with conquests and failed conquests. Remember "Kamikaze", when the Chinese fleet going to Japan got blown away? I saw recently a program on CCTV about a famous and distinguished Chinese emperor bird artist, occurring about 1400 A.D., or? 1400 years ago. Taxes were high, and in the end, he lost to Chinese invaders from farther north in the "central kingdom"(s).

I do know that the veritable founder of the English nation, Alfred the Great, 800 A.D.? was sainted, and did some writing and translations. How do we grade kings and emperors on a uniform scale, Europe and Chinese? I'd like to see that.

Asian conquest designs are safely over, now, are history, since we have butterfly collecting Japanese Emperors?
