No. Nor can I see any point in doing so. I simply look at the numbers (population, income/capita) and their trends and note that the economic centre of gravity has been steadily shifting westward with some short-term eddies to its long-term westward passage.

Westerners have also been historically cruel to each other. Arguing about the East-West preponderance of cruelty might conceivably lead us to conclude we have been less cruel, but given our greater per capita resources, we damn well should be MUCH less cruel than we are. Proof of this is that the rising economic tide of the Clinton years was much more equitable than the suck-upward economics (but pretend it is trickle down) of both the Reagan and Bush years. Moreover, the US's per capita incarceration rates are so scandalously high that one wonders why any American has the gall to claim moral superiority over any other way of life.
