I had it adroitly paranoidly figured that someone in suburban Washington, D.C. just was outraged by what I was about to post. I have a mouse (optical type) that maddenly does some uncomanded jumps around in the text. I actally did change out my mouse recently because it *was* seeming "goosey/noisy. While we wait, let's blame Vista.

I realised last night with my cable remote control that even touching a number on the number pad, by me OR by the cat does an uncommanded channel jump.
