Edit
Ford was instrumental in the success of Brazil's ethanol project. There's two factors that helped Brazil with biofuel:
1) they have a year long growing season
2) even with their growing consumption, they still use so little oil they can export some of theirs to us. They just don't use it like we do.

Back to the auto industry. Where there is a viable market for it the auto industry is very interested in investing in other fuels. But here in the U.S. the idea is just plain stupid.

We need a source of fuel that is practically free the way gas used to be. We need a source of fuel that powers engine in our varied climates the way gas does. We need a source of fuel that is available to every square inch of the country the way gas used to be. BUt there simply isn't anything to match good old gasoline. So the solution is to quit pissing around acting all caring about the stupid environment and start drilling and refining. Those things can be done without making a mess and the wakos know it.

I'm so sick of those liars telling us what bad people we are for ruining the environment. Americans have to suffer under strict environmental laws that China and India can totally ignore. (And don't talk to me about CO2, it's not a pollutant.) The wakos want us to drive little lawn mower powered plastic pieces of crap. Americans don't want wimpy cars and motorcycles. We want vehicles that roar and go fast and cost too much money. I am so sick and tired of people who want us to be more like Europe, or Somalia. Screw all that. We CAN have a lot of stuff in this country, we can live with if we want to, or we can choose not to have a lot of stuff. But we DO have a choice. I'm not ashamed at all for being a gas guzzler.
