It would be a valuable feed stock in algae culture, yes. Also, plants like it.

As long as the automobile propellants pay their fair share of any possible environmental impact, I agree. Relying heavily on cheap energy enabled great advances of civilization. With cheap energy, we can provide the world in general with more plentiful commodities. Relying on muscle power alone, we/you/I/they probably wouldn't be able send our legislators on frequent free trips to the Middle East, f'rinstance.
