Edit
Crossbowman:"The reality is that the collective decision is the sum of hundreds of millions of individual decisions, each with their own individual circumstances and priorities, so that while those individual decisions may be individually rational, the collective result may not be. A hundred thousand pizza delivery boys and burger flippers just aren't going to have the same environmental and economic priorities as the lawyers and doctors they serve, so the collective results are often far afield of how we would expect a rational collective to behave.

A talking head on Fox News (Brit Hume) just expressed the opinion that a lot of voters will make their decision on the immediate feelings and conditions of election day. Therefore, current polls and forecasts are not too meaningful.
