There is linkage, I believe, but the degree of interdependence of saltine crackers leading to laziness and dependence expressed politically is just inferrable, not well established.

Healthy diet may lead to robustness, and therefore better citizenship, but can we impose/mandate/socially engineer either dietary choices or sane citizenship actions that actually strenghthen individuals and thereby also, society, in a democratic society?
