U.S. Representative Ralph Regula (R-Navarre) announced today Committee approval of the fiscal year 2009 Financial Services and General Government Appropriations bill. In all, the bill would provide over $22 billion to fund a number of government agencies and regulatory bodies such as the Treasury Department, Federal Communications Commission and Small Business Administration for fiscal year 2008. Regula, the Ranking Member and lead Republican on the Financial Services Subcommittee inserted $1.45 million for the Stark State College of Technology for a Fuel Cell Service and Overhaul Learning Center.

The money would go toward developing a world class Fuel Cell Service, Repair and Overhaul Learning Center on the Stark State college campus. The Learning Center will focus on training technicians and field service engineers with the expertise to work on solid oxide fuel cell systems that will be deployed in the stationary power generation market.

"The Fuel Cell Service, Repair and Overhaul Learning Center will complement state efforts to cultivate and grow the fuel cell industry in Ohio. This initiative will also help to further anchor Rolls Royce Fuel Cell Systems into the local economy by providing them with manpower to help install, service, maintain and repair their products when they come to market," concluded Regula.
