Wise people shy away from inflated currency, you know, unless they p-p-plan to spend it fast. OTOH, if the only thing for sale on a desert island is gold bullion, there is likely to be a slack metals market, while the affluent palm farmer ripens his low-wage low-foresighted monkey-harvested coconuts. (added) Surprising added meaning for bullion, also very precious, but fragile:
