V. Fox starting paragraph, which is as far as I could get:

"If you feel-I did NOT say think-that you are worthless, you may be and probably are a victim of a culture that has told you that your worth depends on your achievements and the judgments of others. The feeling of worthlessness besets and enervates men and women, but in different ways. For women it can be a devastating experience, especially for those who experience depression after a loss of love or approval. The same society which supports organized brutality in the form of football and boxing, assigned them second-class citizen status-a promotion from the third-class status of only 30 years ago. They are vulnerable, they are moving targets. And men? "

Rationalising inadequacies gone rampant?

Do you also advocate eliminating the grading system in school?

I think there might be some advantage and merit in merely having a pass-fail criterion for designated blocks of skill and knowledge. This seems to be the case with certain licensing and certification procedures, from law, driving, piloting, or ?MCSE (Microsoft Software Engineering) certifications.

In the self-esteem arena, I suggest that a woman who can't win cheerleader election contests should just transfer efforts to some arena that they can excel in. That is, still try to excel, but maybe not at bone-bruising football.

Naturally, on social pressure, some kids would read 200 literary classics, great works by great minds (all with Ph.D.s?) per semester, and others would stick with the 200 comic books or romance novels derived with them.

Actually, I had a grade school teacher that I liked and respected who gave us points for reading books in the classroom library. Obviously that teacher should have been working elsewhere, excavating at the hadron collider site under the France-Switzerland border and gaining important new elevated transparent insights.
