Consider, when something 'new' or different comes along you will be the first in line to explore/digest/discredit/or trash it.

You want to be sure to 'wrap' your self around it and find out where it came from and where it might go.

Interesting is how when 'it' is something you are afraid of or don't understand your effort seems to go in high gear to 'discredit' or otherwise corral it.

But if is something that you can use to advance your 'cause' like going after Hillary or Fonda or Darwin all the negatives become 'church mice'.

The other is that you seem to strike a balance between fooling your self and fooling others. or thinking that you are successful at fooling others (out of sight/out of mind)

In a way you remind me of Karl Rove. When something is in the air you don't understand or don't like the first action is "destroy".
