Your response is very interesting!

Angust; **I feel a need to comment that calculations concerning the volume of knowledge "in the world" all suggest that we now have far more knowledge that we can conceivably find helpful to living.**

I beg to differ. We just happen to live in a society that has a real issue with literacy. When it comes to language and linguistics society as a whole comes up rather short. When seven out of ten can't name the vice president and half can't name the capitol city of the state they live in it gives some indication of the state of interest people have of the world around them.

Angust; **This being so, the question is "what makes knowledge valuable for living?" That seems to have been a question of little concern to thinkers about language from the era/school of Korzybski.**

????????????Where on planet do you come up with that statement???????????? THIS is the VERY utmost concern of Korsybski! Or are you just that "intellectually Lazy" accepting reality?

And where do you get off on this 'kick' that what you have to say about it is 'authorative'? It is YOUR 'opinion'. And your opinion does NOT mean to say that, that is the way it actually is.

A very noticeable trait of those from your school of thought is grandiosity. Right wing and conservative politicians suffer the same ill. As well as those that are too religious.

From this prospective, for you to be 'right' someone else has to be 'wrong'.

Just for your information back in the seventies/eighties I spent seven years as a Dale Carnegie courses class instructor. For a small percentage it works well. For another near equal percentage it is a distinct NEGATIVE! For the greater percentage in the middle it is just another way to spend time and money.

Don't mean to bust your bubble, it's just that I've already been there and done that!
