Lamplighter:"What farmer would plant an apple tree whose fruit... was suspect? "

I am philosophically sympathetic to builders/farmers, and in the case of the nectarine, it grew up from a "peach" pit that I tossed along the fence line where the lawn mower does not reach.

For my part, I yam at least enough of a "farmer" to recognise the distinctive peach-analagous leaves and add water/mulch/fertilizer.

At this point, I am having to prune branches away from the driveway, and waiting for the delicately flavored little organic summer morsels to ripen. (I have been rewarded richly.).
